Orientation for International Students

All new students are required to attend their respective orientation program, as well as check in at OISS within 15 days of arrival in the U.S.  Please make your travel plans accordingly.
 
Please note that failure to attend orientation and check-in with OISS will result in a hold being placed on your student record and may affect your immigration status.  

2013 International Mandatory Orientation Dates:

MBA - August 5-9
Undergraduates & Exchange Students: August 16-17
Graduates: August 19-20


Orientation Programs:

MBAs – must attend the international orientation sessions during the pre-term period beginning August 5, 2013. Click here for the schedule (coming summer 2013).

Undergraduates & Undergraduate Exchange Students – must attend the mandatory iPREP (international – Preparatory and Regulatory Education Program) held off-site on August 16th and 17th, 2013, before O-Week. Graduates & Graduate Exchange Students – must attend the International Graduate Student Orientation held on the Monday and Tuesday of Orientation Week. Fall 2013 dates will be August 19th and 20th, 2013. You may also download the tentative schedule of events (coming summer 2013)

Late Orientation Program - **The late orientation program is for those students who were not able to attend their mandatory program due to unforeseen circumstances. If you will be unable to attend your mandatory session, please notify OISS as soon as possible to have your documents updated accordingly.  The program is held on the first Friday of classes. 

** Short-Term International Visiting Research Students who are coming to do research for the summer must attend one of the international orientations held every Friday during the months of June and July. Contact OISS to schedule your orientation.

 

Check-in Process and Times:
All new international students must have formally checked-in with OISS by the first Thursday of classes. For check-in, students must bring originals and copies of all immigration documents -- passport, visa, I-94, and I-20/DS-2019.  Students will be asked to complete OISS's Check-in Form and meet with an advisor. During the check-in process, the OISS advisor will verify the immigration documents, provide general information, and address specific immigration compliance reminders.  The advisor will also go over the Check-In Checklist to help you complete your set-up on campus.

    FALL SEMESTER MANDATORY CHECK-IN TIMES:

Students must bring originals and copies of all immigration documents.  Copies may be made in the University Copy Center located in the Student Center

Check-ins will be in the OISS, Lovett Hall, Entrance A, Room 201
